Accents in project development

Andreas Rust, a native of Frankfurt, has helped many owners to successfully complete their property projects in his work as a project developer and consultant. His open and transparent communication has helped to overcome numerous hurdles.

In project development, it is essential to combine three pillars: commercial and technical understanding as well as knowledge of marketing and the market. This is the only way to achieve holistic and sustainable project development. For Rust, sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived practice. For example, an underground storage system was integrated into the MAIN TOWER back in 1999 and the tower was awarded LEED Gold certification in 2021.

Traces of creative work

Rust has left an unmistakable mark of his creative endeavours, particularly in his hometown of Frankfurt am Main: As the long-standing district chairman of the political youth organisation “Junge Union”, he campaigned vehemently for the introduction of the restricted area ordinance in the station district in the 1980s. Years before Starbucks and Co. began their triumphant advance, Rust also developed an initiative at this time to rediscover and promote Frankfurt’s coffee house culture. As a long-standing city councillor and economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, he promoted the first valid Frankfurt high-rise masterplan.

“Initiative for Petra Roth”

In 1994, Andreas Rust developed the “Initiative for Petra Roth” together with Princess of Hanover, Barbara von Metzler and former Mayor Dr Walter Wallmann. One year later, Roth, with whom he maintains a cordial relationship to this day, was elected Lord Mayor.

MAIN TOWER

The MAIN TOWER in Frankfurt am Main is not only known for its height and striking presence in the cityscape, but also for its architectural significance and public accessibility.

The MAIN TOWER is also a pioneer in terms of sustainability. Since its completion in 1999, the building has been setting standards in sustainable construction. Equipped with an innovative ground-source energy storage system, the MAIN TOWER contributes to energy efficiency and significantly reduces the ecological footprint. In 2021, the tower was awarded LEED Gold certification, confirming its high level of environmental compatibility and sustainability. This iconic building is an outstanding example of how modern architecture and environmental awareness can go hand in hand.

Designed by SAA Schweger Architekten (Hamburg), the high-rise is characterised by clean lines and a modern, glass façade that captures and reflects the light.

A special feature of the MAIN TOWER is the publicly accessible viewing platform, which is located at a height of around 200 metres. From there, visitors have a breathtaking view over the skyline of Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding Rhine-Main region. This platform makes the MAIN TOWER a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, who can experience the city from a new perspective.

In addition to offices, the building also houses Germany’s highest restaurant. Hessischer Rundfunk has reported from the top of the Main TOWER for many years. Today, the space is a fitness centre with a unique view over Frankfurt am Main. With this mixture of office space and public areas, the MAIN TOWER emphasises its importance as a landmark of Frankfurt am Main, which is appreciated not only for its architecture but also for its integration into urban life.

“(S)Turmspitzen”

With his 1995 book “(S)Turmspitzen”, Rust offered a fascinating insight into the world of bank towers. In 1996, he initiated the Frankfurt Skyscraper Festival, which is now regarded as the city’s best-attended major event.

In 1998, he gained the Sparkassenfinanzgruppe and the private radio station Hit Radio FFH as partners. To this day, the festival event around Frankfurt’s bank towers with up to 5 million visitors is regarded as the best-attended major event in Frankfurt for skyscraper fans from near and far.

Development of Deutsche Börse AG

In 1998, Rust helped Deutsche Börse to find new premises in Rödelheim and played a key role in the development of the building

The new – old Frankfurt city centre

The first project development calculation for the reconstruction of Frankfurt’s old town was made by Andreas Rust. In 2018, the people of Frankfurt celebrated the inauguration of this outstanding project.

Commitment in Rüsselsheim

In 2004, the Hessian CDU asked Rust to run for mayor of Rüsselsheim. His ideas and initiatives still have an impact there today.
